Whirlpool Galaxy (Messier 51a)

The Whirlpool Galaxy lies 23.5 million light years away in the constellation Canes Venatici, and was the first galaxy to be classified as a spiral galaxy. It is interacting with its companion galaxy (NGC 5195). Total integration time was 9.5 hours.
