The Whale Galaxy is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici about 30 million light years away from Earth. Together with NGC 4627, it forms a "double galaxy". Nearby interacting galaxies NGC 4656 and NGC 4657 are a part of the same group.
